RUOK Program - Keeping Seniors and Disabled Residents Safe

The Village of Salado Police Department offers a free telephone service to help keep Salado's seniors and disabled residents safe. Through the RUOK Program, which stands for "are you okay?", participants receive phone calls from the Salado Police Department's Citizens on Patrol volunteer program at a designated time each day to check on their status. If no one answers the phone after several tries, Salado Police officers drive to the home to check on the resident. The program is limited to residents of the Village of Salado.

To enroll in the RUOK Program, complete the RUOK Enrollment Form and drop it off at the Salado Police Department located at 313 N. Stagecoach Road or the Salado Municipal Building located at 301 N. Stagecoach Road. If a resident requires a form be taken to their residence, call 254-947-5681 and leave a message.

Code Red - A Reverse 9-1-1 Notification System

The Village of Salado and its Police Department participate in a reverse 911 notification system known as CODE RED. Reverse 911 is used when Police, Fire, and Government officials need to notify the public of emergency situations and any actions they should take to protect lives and property. Many people will not receive these important notices because of the decline of home/land-line phones, so residents and business owners are encouraged to self-register their contact information.

To self-register cell phones and email addresses, please follow the link below to self- register cell phones and email addresses by calling 866-939-0911.

Registration is voluntary. This reverse 911 is also being utilized by other cities within Bell County and surrounding counties.

CITIZENS ON PATROL (COPS) - Volunteers Helping Keep Salado Safe

The Salado Police Department's Citizens On Patrol (COP) program provides the opportunity for trained citizen volunteers to assist their police department with designated non-confrontational activities as citizen patrollers and administrative volunteers in order to increase citizen understanding and participation in police activities, enhance crime prevention, and provide additional resources to improve service to the community.

COP volunteers are trained to work with the police department to act as additional “eyes and ears” to help report criminal activity and issues requiring the attention of city resources. Citizens who are interested in joining the COPS program should complete the COPS Application Form and drop it off at the Salado Police Department located at 313 N. Stagecoach Road or the Salado Municipal Building located 301 N. Stagecoach Road.
