Village of Salado May 6, 2023 General Election

The first day to file an application for a place on the ballot for the positions of three (3) aldermen will be January 18, 2023.  The last day to file an application for a place on the ballot will be February 17, 2023.  Click here to view the Notice of Deadline to File an Application for Place on the Ballot. Candidate packets will be available on Wednesday, January 5, 2023 in paper or electronic format at the Municipal Building during office hours (Monday-Friday, 8 a.m.-5 pm.) or you may click the link below to download a PDF version of the candidate packet.  Adobe Acrobat Reader is recommended to view the candidate packet file.

The requirements/qualifications to serve on the Village of Salado Board of Aldermen are:

Type A City (Local Gov't Code, Section 22.032)

Mayor

  • Residence, 1 year in Texas prior to the filing deadline
  • Residence, 1 year in Salado prior to election day
  • Age, 18 years or older
  • Registered Voter, must be a registered voter in territory elected from by the filing deadline

Alderman

  • Residence, 1 year in Texas prior to the filing deadline
  • Residence, 6 months in Salado prior to filing deadline
  • Age, 18 years or older
  • Registered Voter, must be a registered voter in territory elected from by the filing deadline

As part of the application for a place on the ballot, candidates are required to sign the following sworn statement:

“ I, (name) _____________ of _________ County, Texas being a candidate for the office of _____________, swear that I will support and defend the Constitution and laws of the United States and the State of Texas. I am a citizen of the United States eligible to hold such office under the constitution and laws of this state. I have not been determined by a final judgment of a court exercising probate jurisdiction to be totally mentally incapacitated or partially mentally incapacitated without the right to vote. I am aware of the nepotism law, Chapter 573, Government Code. I am aware that I must disclose any prior felony conviction, and if so convicted, must provide proof that I have been pardoned or otherwise released from the resulting disabilities of any such final felony conviction. I am aware that knowingly providing false information on the application regarding my possible felony conviction status constitutes a Class B misdemeanor. I further swear that the foregoing statements included in my application are in all things true and correct.”

Thursday, April 6, 2023 is the last day for submitting a voter registration application in time to vote in the May 6, 2023 General Election.

Early voting by personal appearance begins on Monday, April 24, 2023 and ends on Tuesday, May 2, 2023 and voting on Election Day, May 6, 2023 will be from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.  Early and Election Day voting will be held at the Salado Civic Center, 601 N. Main Street, Salado, Texas.
